What Is The Difference Between Jonathan Swift And Lliputians
Comparing and contrasting the Lilliputians and Brobdingnagians from Jonathan Swiftââ¬â¢s Gulliverââ¬â¢s Travels. Lilliputians and the Brobdingnagians are quite different. In Gulliverââ¬â¢s Travels, Lemuel Gulliver encounter the places of Lilliput and Brobdingnag. Each location has some form of satire that is targeted towards the English government. By comparison these two beings are completely different. Not only are they different by size, but they are completely different in personality and nature. Their reactions to Gulliver at each of his sizes is different as well. Lilliputians are more of a bitter people, they like to look out for themselves. Gulliver wanted to protest this at court, but he had concluded that he had too many powerful enemies to even go through with it. Heââ¬â¢d rather care for how entertained he is by the officials. Essentially anyone could become part of the high court, and that could provide a gateway for someone with dirty pockets. Even though Gulliver was still a different size in Brobdingnag, he was treated with much better hospitality on his discovery. â â¬Å"His majesty sent for three great scholarsâ⬠(Swift 124), he was studied by the kingââ¬â¢s finest scholars and not chained down like an animal. ââ¬Å"He is examined by three Brobdingnagian scholarsâ⬠(Sena, John F.), there was more focus on what his capabilities were, and how he came to be in Brobdingnag.
